Plant a surprising spring now

Whether it’s daffodils, hyacinths, tulips, or grape hyacinths, now is the time to plant flower bulbs! Do you like surprises? Then plant a mix of different bulbs and see how they bloom in the spring. One thing is certain. The result will be beautiful.

This is how you do it!

Choose a variety of bulbs such as daffodils (Narcissus), hyacinths (Hyacinthus), and tulips (Tulipa). Empty the bags of bulbs into a large pot or basket and mix them together. Now take your bulb mix, grab the bulbs from the basket one by one, and randomly plant them in your garden, for example along your terrace, between the perennials, and under trees and shrubs that have no leaves in spring.

A cheerful spring

A splash of yellow, a hint of bubblegum pink, and a dash of bright orange. Those who like lots of color can go all out when mixing flower bulbs. You can’t go wrong with color combinations. The more colors, the more cheerful your spring garden. Prefer a bit less color? Then choose one color or a mix of soft pastels.

Nature in your garden

Randomly planting different bulbs gives a natural effect, as if the flowers have sprung up spontaneously. For even more nature in your garden, you can also vary the flowering times. For example, mix early-flowering bulbs like crocus (Crocus), slightly later-flowering bulbs like tulips (Tulipa), and true late-flowering bulbs like wild hyacinth (Camassia). You’ll then be able to enjoy the blooms in your garden for a longer time. They’re beautiful and great for the bees and other insects that drink the nectar.

Tip!

  • Also plant a flower bulb mix in pots (on terraces and balconies), façade gardens, and tree pits (the often bare ground where trees are planted in paved areas). This will create a very colorful spring!
  • Want to go really wild? Scatter the bulbs randomly throughout your garden and plant them where they land.
