A paradise of summer blooms

Summer bulbs bring an enchanting serenity to your outdoor space. Just plant them between late April and the end of May, and nature will do the rest! They’ll quickly grow into a gorgeous floral display. Just imagine yourself nestled in a nice spot and relaxing among all the beautiful splashes of color.

Real eye-catchers!

You can plant flower bulbs in groups of the same variety or mix different varieties together. They also work well planted between existing perennials, giving the effect of a mixed bouquet in your garden. Any soil is suitable, as long as it allows for the draining of excess water. Check the packaging for the best location (many summer bulbs are sun worshippers), height, planting distance, and planting depth. Bulbs can be planted a little closer together when in planters or pots.

Blooms guaranteed

You can choose from an extensive range of summer bulbs from the well-known dahlia, gladiolus (Gladiolus), iris (Iris hollandica), and lily (Lilium) to the lesser-known tiger flower (Tigridia), pineapple flower (Eucomis), and canna lily (Canna). Choosing bulbs with different flowering times guarantees flowers in your garden from late May until well into the fall. Go to www.flowerbulbs.com for flowering times, the great range of varieties, extra information, and bulb inspiration!

Practical tips

  1. Use compost to improve the soil.
  2. Only use pots with holes in the bottom so that excess water can drain.
  3. Put lower-growing summer bulbs near the front of the border.
  4. Watering is only necessary during long dry periods.
  5. Cut back spent flowers to promote new flower growth.
  6. Annual summer bulbs such as dahlias need to be removed from the soil after flowering. Store them in a frost-free spot and plant them again in the spring. If in a pot, they can overwinter in the pot in a frost-free location.
  7. Leave hardy summer bulbs in the ground; they will flower again every year.
