Multifunctional garden
Our lives have changed. Whereas we used to be more focused on going out, our own home and garden have become more important. Gardens tend to be more flexible in layout these days and are becoming an extension of the home in order to create additional living space, like an office. It is such a joy to work in your garden in spring, surrounded by beautifully blooming flower bulbs. Tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and other spring-flowering bulbs give you energy and a refreshing start to every day.
Biodiversity
The crisis has made us face facts even more acutely, and increased our awareness of our climate and nature. Making your garden greener is also good for biodiversity and water management. Use plants that benefit insects, birds, and small mammals. Flower bulbs are indispensable in that regard. Bees start looking for food from early spring. Since bulbs are the first to bloom in the spring, they are a must for bees. Flower bulbs that produce plenty of pollen and have ‘open’ flowers are the most suitable:
- grape hyacinths (Muscari)
- bluebells (Hyacinthoides)
- Sicilian honey garlic (Netaroscordum siculum)
- crocuses
- Grecian windflower (Anemone blanda)
- alliums
- snowdrops (Galanthus)
- imperial crown (Fritillaria imperialis)
